Most Recent Quarter - MRQ

Most Recent Quarter - MRQ
A time notation denoting the measurement of a performance metric (such as earnings) using data from the previous quarter. Analysts use most recent quarter figures to determine how a metric has changed over time. MRQ information is found on a company's financial statements.

Investors and analysts want to know that a company's management is making decisions that improve the bottom line, and MRQ performance is a way to tell how strategies are working out. Quarterly statements, such as the 10-Q, are a popular (and legally required) way of communicating performance to potential and existing investors.
